About twenty minutes away from Atlantic City is a small town called Smithville, NJ. At first glance it almost looks like it’s from the pages of a storybook. You will find small shops, restaurants, attractions and even the Smithville Inn.
If you are looking for a place to find a unique gift, hard to find collectible, or just spend a nice day at Smithville is the place to go.
For example, Cooks Corner offers lots of dips, kitchen tools, coffees and teas for sale. The ceilings and walls of the shop are filled with collectible cookie jars for sale as well. If you like tea, Through the Looking Glass also offers loose tea and small gifts that are story book themed.
Another great place to find collectables is at Celebrity Collectables. The store has with tons of Hollywood collectables including T-shirts, mugs, lunch boxes, etc… with your favorite Hollywood icons like I Love Lucy, Marilyn Monroe, the Three Stooges and many more.
Soap always makes a great gift for others or a special treat for yourself…. LEH Soap offers a great collection of natural soap made in Marmoa, NJ. The soaps and other products like lotions, bath fizzes and candles have unique scents for both men and women.
If you are trying to satisfy a sweet tooth you can always visit Sweet Things or The Sweet Stop. They offer lots of freshly made chocolates, pretzels and fudges. You can also purchase favors for a special event. The Sweet Shop’s offer my favorite treat, dark chocolate salted caramels and mint cookies covered in choclate.
Before leavings don’t forget to eat something. Smithville has a lot of great places to eat like Fred & Ethel’s Lantern Light Tavern.
When I visited my friends and I had some freshly made hot chicken wings. I got the Honey Grilled Chicken Sandwich too. I am a big fan of honey mustard and their recipe for it is perfect. We left full and satisfied from the meal. The meal was low-priced – but very high quality. Their daily soups and specials are also a really great deal.
If you have kids with you make sure you check out the paddle boats, the Smithville train and carousal with unique animals like rabbits, ostriches and elephants.’
